Reading scripture over and over is the only way I’ve found to memorize it, but if I try and cram it all in during a single sitting it never sticks. Instead, I’ve found the greatest way to write scripture on my heart is by placing it around my home. What better way to decorate my home than with the Word of God?
I’ve seen yearly journals before while browsing on Amazon or that my friends have used and the idea is incredible – ask your child the same question year after year on the same date and document their answers. A lot can change in three years and having a place where these precious ideas are stored can offer the chance to look back and see how they’ve grown.
For the last week or two I’ve been working through a new study, Awaken Faith by Ellen Hopkins. Ellen is the founder of Scripture Confident Living where she shares works to encourage women to study the Bible with confidence. She offers studies, courses, and so much more, all for the beginning believer to those mature in their faith. I am incredibly grateful for women like Ellen that have the ability to help open the Scriptures in such an accessible way!
Spending quality time with God is vital to our life, but with the chaos of everyday needs bouncing around our heads and tasks that need to be completed, it can feel nearly impossible at times to get a few moments of peace, let alone enough time to strengthen our faith. How can we fit in quiet time with God when we have so many other things that need our attention?
I don’t know if it was the four day weekend, the extremely cold temperatures keeping us cooped up inside, or something else throwing off the normal groove of the house, but today was hard.
The kids were riled up. Typical sibling squabbles escalated quickly, common house rules were ignored and even with reminders were still broken. Screams echoed around the house as the kids yelled harsh words at each other. No one listened the first time when directions were given.
Today was hard.
