The idea for this blog came from a comment a friend made one day. I had hosted a meeting at my house and as we were closing up and saying our good-byes one friend said, “Thank you for being real.”
She was frustrated by feeling that all her friends and collegues had their lives totally together and everything was picture perfect. My home is NEVER close to that and seeing a house where clutter has a normal presence and fingerprints are a typical decoration put her at ease.
While I have many crazy dreams of a perfectly organized home, amazing craft projects, and incredibly creative and well balanced meals, I also have a realistic view of myself, my strengths, and my weaknesses. I don’t need everything to have a place in order to function. Would it be nice? Sure. I do, however, need creative outlets in various forms to feel happy.
So from that simple comment sprang this idea. A place for me to showcase how I do real life and how I find joy in this real life. It’s a bit outside my comfort zone to put my life on display (but not TOO much outside) but I know how much I appreciate those I relate to in real life and online.
Sometimes we need to know that someone else understands what it’s like to
- wash the same load of laundry over and over because you keep forgetting to move it to the dryer (even with a timer!)
- declare a movie & popcorn day with the kids in the hopes of getting just a few moments of quiet time
- promise yourself you will motivate and push “play” on the exercise video… tomorrow
