Inspired by one of my favorite blogs I thought it would be a great idea to look back each week at those things that brought me the most joy. This is far too fitting for my blog to ignore the idea so I look forward to posting these each week!

It really felt like fall this week around here! The air was quite cool and crisp and we even had our first frost warning of the season. I got some work started on house projects and the big kids helped tidy up our basement living room so we could take out the Halloween costumes. I can hardly believe it’s only three weeks away! What else did we get up to this week?
1. Micah’s silly co-workers
Micah and his co-workers like to play jokes on each other quite frequently. He sent me this picture of what one of them did to our family photo from 2013. I actually laughed out loud when this showed up on my phone. I was impressed with the guy’s dedication to getting the cats to all look the correct direction.
2. Animal make believe
This has become a new favorite game during the day. I call out an animal and they do the sounds while acting like that animal. It’s a fun way to be active, learn, and be silly all at the same time! Plus hearing and seeing their unique takes on each of the animals is hilarious!
3. Car seat ponchos
I finished one poncho for the little guys and have another to make but seeing Cade try this one on and model it for my post last week was simply precious. He held his hands up, spun around, and was such a good sport while I took pictures. Plus he’s so darn cute! I’m so thankful for the ability to make things for my kids and that it’s something I enjoy doing!
4. Tea bag tag truth
It’s tea season in our house and we are big fans of Yogi Echinacea Immune Support tea. All the tea bags come with a little saying on the tag. Micah likes putting two bags in each cup he drinks so as I was getting a cup of tea ready for him the other day these were the two I opened. I think these fit rather well with my mission. Being thankful for what we have in front of us and seeing how being content with our real lives can bring happiness and joy. It was a nice reminder!
5. Big brother love
Despite having the great brush I posted about last week, occasionally Mercedes still doesn’t want us brushing her hair. But on Saturday night she let Parker brush her hair. He offered and she immediately took him up on the chance. He gently ran the brush through the tangles and made sure to get every piece smooth. I took a video that you can see here. No matter how much these two butt heads it’s so evident that they love each other deeply.
Where did you find joy this week? Are you finding that gratefulness and contentment help you find joy in your life?
