Welcome back! If you are just joining us, we are using the YouVersion Bible App to follow a devotional together. Read THIS POST to get all the information you need to join in and then you can read THIS MORNING’S POST to see the promises we are focusing on this week.
There are some fabulous verses this week to choose from! Two selections are from the same chapter of Isaiah and the other two are both from 2 Corinthians. So which one did I choose to focus on this week?
I want to give you more strength than you’ve ever had before. Trust in Me only. I will. Isaiah 40:31
What an incredible promise from God! How many days do you feel yourself growing tired or weary of the same things. The kids are bickering. The dishes are piling up. The bills are due. The car needs new tires. Another person in your life was just diagnosed with cancer. More requests for your time and attention. You are feeling burnt out.
God has called you to be the mom to these kids. He has called you to be in this time for a purpose. When you put your trust in him and ask him for for strength he will give you exactly what you need.
Those early days of being a mom to twins (plus three other kids) were… interesting. I had two newborns demanding attention, feedings, love. I had to find a way to not only attend to their basic needs but I also needed to not leave the other kids high and dry. When morning came far too soon because of multiple wakings and I wasn’t sure how I would stay awake to tend to other kids God came through. There were days when a friend would come by to chat and help with laundry. Or other days when I had food prepped in the freezer so I didn’t need to worry about planning dinner.
No matter how tired or stretched thin I felt I seemed to always have strength to face another day. I had a deep well that God filled for me to keep going. People around me asked me how I was able to do all I was doing. There were nights when I thought for sure I wouldn’t be able to stay awake the next day and yet somehow I accomplished plenty that day. And other days when I simply kept all the kids alive and fed and that was what needed to happen.
His strength is more than sufficient for enduring the race set before you. Place your trust in him, no matter what is in your path, and he will provide. It may not be exactly how you imagined but God’s plan is always better than anything we could dream up anyway. God promises that no matter what he will give you strength when you place your trust in Him. It’s not a might happen but a WILL. You WILL have your strength renewed, you WILL soar like an eagle, you WILL run and not grow weary, and you WILL run and not grow faint.
Heavenly Father, what a wonderful promise of your unending power. Through you we can have strength to endure anything we are facing. Help us to turn to you with everything in our lives, to place it all in your hands so that we can run the race set before us and not grow tired or weary. Thank you for the strength you have already given us and for the renewal of strength you’ve promised us. In your Son’s mighty name, Amen.
When have you felt God’s strength getting you through? What do you need to trust God for right now?
