My Week’s Joy – 2/29-3/6

Inspired by one of my favorite blogs I thought it would be a great idea to look back each week at those things that brought me the most joy. This is far too fitting for my blog to ignore the idea so I look forward to posting these each week!

1. This picture made me laugh!

Although I’m pretty sure they missed a couple. 5) Put the laundry near the hamper but rarely in the hamper. 6) Dig through the clean clothes to find a specific item and then leave all the other clean clothes strewn about wherever.

2. Morning Pony Rides

Micah drops the big boys off at school in the morning and then comes back home for about 30 minutes before he needs to be at work. He uses this time to play with the three little ones since they will all be in bed when he gets home. They love getting to wrestle and ride on daddy’s back!

3. LEGO magazine day!

I was so excited to open the mailbox this week and see SEVEN new LEGO magazines! Four are the Club Junior LEGO magazines for the four youngest, one LEGO Club magazine for Parker, a LEGO Preschool product catalog and a regular LEGO catalog. Everyone pounced on them as soon as we got in the door and the big boys were silent in the basement for a good 45 minutes reading theirs!

4.  Little Boy Tea Party

These two think tea parties are just a hoot. They burst into giggles every time I ask them to sip their tea. Then they find fake food to “nom nom nom” with their tea. So silly!

On a side note, it is so hard to get a good picture with two very wiggly boys while using my forward facing camera. Ugh!

5. Hands-free Family Time

On Sunday afternoon we unplugged and went outside to enjoy the BEAUTIFUL spring weather. I didn’t even bring my phone outside so I have zero pictures to share but it was so worth it. We chased the kids, rode bikes, walked to the park, and just had a great time as a family.

As a tech-loving family we really enjoy and use technology a lot but sometimes it becomes an easy distraction and we end up spending time together without the connection that we could have without it. Yes we play video games together and learn things on YouTube and watch movies but seeing the joy on a child’s face as they figure out how to pedal a bike or draw a picture with chalk is a pleasure you can’t get via technology.

What brought you joy this week? Did joy come from any unexpected places?
