Inspired by one of my favorite blogs I thought it would be a great idea to look back each week at those things that brought me the most joy. This is far too fitting for my blog to ignore the idea so I look forward to posting these each week
Do you want to know my favorite part about starting this blog and making a point of choosing to see joy in my normal, everyday life? I’m seeing it everywhere now and it’s so hard to not want to share CONSTANTLY about the joy around me. God is good and shows us His goodness if we choose to see it.
1. Team building LEGO
Parker and Jamison worked together to create this huge MOC (My Own Creation) or would it be a OOC (Our Own Creation)? Anyway… It’s made out of Bionicle pieces and they worked so well together to make this giant creature. I love their creativity and that they do know how to get along when they want to accomplish something!
2. Spring visited again!
It hit 70* (possibly a little higher) on Wednesday so after walking home from school all the kids hung out in the front yard decorating the driveway with chalk, riding bikes, and running around enjoying the nice weather. One of the neighbor girls came over too and we made chalk hand prints all over the driveway.
3. Stories at bedtime
Normally I do the reading at bedtime because (honestly) I’m just ready to have them all in bed so I can wind down and so we can read whatever chapter book we are doing together (right now it’s the Magic Tree House series), but when they ask to read to each other? How can I say no? They took turns reading aloud and showing pictures. I love that they are developing a love for books.
4. Walks to school
It’s finally get nice enough to not only walk to school in the afternoon but in the morning as well! As long as it’s not raining and above about 45* we load everyone up and make the trek to school. It’s a little bonus family time that we all love.
5. Half priced shakes
I’m not sure why Sonic starts their Half Priced Shakes after 8pm for the summer in March but I’m not complaining! I was out late on Thursday night and Micah was home with the kids (well, they were in bed) so I swung through the drive through and picked up a caramel shake and a peanut butter shake for us to share. A little impromptu shake date at home. Yum!
6. Sibling love
There may be days where the bickering between siblings seems like it’s never going to end but then something like this happens and I’m left in awe of the love between these kids.
7. Sibling light saber fights
And then moments later they are doing this in the toy aisle, haha! We keep toying (see what I did there?) with the idea of buying them light sabers to have at home because they love using them in store or using the neighbor’s but I know they’d go from toys to weapons in moments so they remain a novelty for quick, fun battles in store. And they give people passing by a good chuckle as well.
Where did you choose to see joy this week?
