Inspired by one of my favorite blogs I thought it would be a great idea to look back each week at those things that brought me the most joy. This is far too fitting for my blog to ignore the idea so I look forward to posting these each week!
Do you want to know my favorite part about starting this blog and making a point of choosing to see joy in my normal, everyday life? I’m seeing it everywhere now and it’s so hard to not want to share CONSTANTLY about the joy around me.
1. Workouts
Remember how one of my April goals is to get in at least three quality workouts per week? I’ve been rocking that and really pushing myself! I wake up sore most mornings because I’m using muscles that haven’t been used in a long time or pushing them past what they are used to doing. I feel so good! The amount of push-ups I’m able to do has doubled since the beginning of the month!
2. Stamped face
This little lady found her brother’s letter J stamp and decided it made the perfect make up. When I came down in the morning to start my quiet time (about 6:30am) she came up like this to greet me. All we could do was laugh… and snap a picture.
3. Mercer Mayer, what?
I got a little giddy last week when MERCER MAYER (as in the author of the Little Critter books) liked my tweet/instagram post with a picture of Jamison reading a Little Critter book to his siblings. I thought it was pretty awesome.
4. Learning back wrapping
I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned before that I’m a part of the local babywearing group in my area. There is an awesome “lending library” available if you are a sustaining member where you can check out wraps and carriers for a month at a time. I always go for buckle carriers, or soft-structured carriers, because that’s what I’m comfortable with and what I like. I tried a wrap last fall and could not get the hang of it.
Last week at the meeting all the SSCs I wanted to try were checked out so I grabbed this beauty and decided to try again. Something started clicking (or the babies were cooperating) and I’m figuring out back carries! I’ve still got some learning to do but at least I can get them up, secured, and comfy enough for a decent walk!
5. $1 Jimmy John’s date
Did you know Jimmy John’s had $1 sandwiches last Thursday? It was one per customer and since I happen to roll with three little ones we were able to pick up four (although we were buying one for a girl behind us that didn’t realize it was one per person and was getting lunch for her and a friend) and have a lunch date/picnic at home plus Micah got a special dinner when he got back. And the kids were SOOOO well behaved in line with their dancing and being silly. I think they made the 10 minute wait go significantly faster for some others in line.
6. Mommy-daughter date
It was our turn to go out on a date and her requests for food were french fries and tortilla chips, ha! So we went to Chili’s. She shared her fries with me and I shared my chips and salad with her. Then we took a picture of us blowing kisses to send to daddy. I love this little lady so much!
7. Park time!
We went to some neighborhood garage sales on Saturday and told the kids if they could behave really well while we walked around that we could stop by the park. The big kids were moving around far too quickly to get a picture of them but the little boys really liked the swings!
