Promises for the Hungry Heart – Week 3 (Update)

Welcome back! If you are just joining us, we are using the YouVersion Bible App to follow a devotional together. Read THIS POST to get all the information you need to join in and then you can read THIS MORNING’S POST to see the promises we are focusing on this week.

DId you get a chance to spend some time with this week’s promises. I read them over and over and had such a hard time deciding which one stood out to me the most. Each one is so fantastic but the promise I am claiming this week is….

You can be fearless in any situation because I’m with you. Joshua 1:9

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

We have no reason to fear! There is absolutely no situation we will face or place we will go that God would abandon us. He is with us no matter what.

Now I’m incredibly far from being political. I don’t watch the news and don’t read any papers. I get any current info from stumbling across it on random websites. But in years like 2016 when politics is such a HUGE issue because of the changes facing our country it’s hard not to pay attention.

I know lots of people that are fearful of where our country is headed. They are discouraged by policies, platforms, and petticoats. Okay, not the last one. But I’m not scared. God already knows who the next president will be. We need to keep praying for our leader and future leader, no matter who that person is, whether or not we agree with that person.

“Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” There may be times when it feels like He’s gone or that he isn’t concerned with little ol’ America but He loves his people. He gave His son so that we could have freedom in Him. Not freedom from pain, or freedom from persecution, or freedom from petticoats (I don’t know what’s wrong with me).

If the next president causes the end of the world? Okay. I know where I’m going and where my family is going. I don’t fear what’s to come (although I do have some pretty crazy fears that I’ll share at some point) because my trust and faith is in Him and he is with me wherever I go.

Heavenly Father, I thank you so much for your promises. I especially thank you that you are with us wherever we go. That no matter what situation we face, what obstacle is in our path, or what place we find ourselves, you are there with us. I ask Lord that you would bury this truth deep into our hearts so that we would find peace and comfort in it when we face uncertainty. In Jesus name, Amen.

Which promise spoke to you this week? Is there one you need more faith to believe? Which promise are you claiming for your life?
