Three Word Wednesday: Hearing His Voice

I’m linking this up over at 152 Insights to My Soul.

From Kristin: #ThreeWordWednesday is simple, really. I know we’re all busy with life and kids and jobs and parents and friends and church and whatever else it is that occupies our time. Some weeks I’m not sure what my post will be about, but knowing people will show up here on Wednesdays is good motivation to write something. #ThreeWordWednesday is a chance to pause and hear God. Sum up what you’re hearing in three words. Those three words are enough. But stories are good too.

Hearing His Voice

Last week I wrote a post called Seeing the Stars. I talked about how easy it is to get distracted by the world around us that we don’t see Jesus. This was not what I thought that post was going to be about.

When I was in the car at the farm and watched the stars in the sky as we were driving I immediately thought about how God knows the number of the stars and calls them each by name. I thought about how much more we mean to Him than the stars in the sky.

That was what I intended to write about last week.

That’s what I started writing when I began my post.

But the words didn’t fit.

That little voice that God speaks in kept telling me I was missing what I needed to really write about. The message He was really saying to me.

I scrapped what little I had written and began again. The words flowed easily. @@I knew His voice because I stopped to listen.@@

I could have easily pushed through and written a post that some may have needed to hear. But it wasn’t what He wanted me to say that day. Because of my obedience several people were blessed and encouraged by my words.

That is why I am here.

To spread joy, encouragement, and some laughter in whatever way He asks. I simply need to stop and make sure I’m hearing His voice instead of only my own.
