My Week’s Joy – 5/16-5/22

Inspired by one of my favorite blogs I thought it would be a great idea to look back each week at those things that brought me the most joy. This is far too fitting for my blog to ignore the idea so I look forward to posting these each week!

Do you want to know my favorite part about starting this blog and making a point of choosing to see joy in my normal, everyday life? I’m seeing it everywhere now and it’s so hard to not want to share CONSTANTLY about the joy around me.

1. This BEAUTIFUL peacock

We got to join Jamison on his trip to the zoo on Monday and they have peacocks just wandering around. Crazy! We walked down a path and this guy (girl?) was displaying his full tail and it was just breathtaking. What a creative and amazing God to make something so detailed and beautiful for a bird! Wow.

2. Zoo trip with (almost all) the kiddos

As I mentioned, we got to join Jamison on his zoo trip. We also got to bring along Cade, Anders, and Mercedes. We missed out on doing this last year with Parker because of doctor appointments so we were excited to join Jamison this year. They really enjoyed seeing the animals and spending time exploring.

3. Anders pulling Cade

Anders is our peanut. He has always been on the smaller side of the growth charts but he’s growing and developing perfectly so it’s never been a concern and this kid has NEVER let his smaller size stop him from attempting anything and everything. He was crawling and walking “early” and has no fear of climbing. Cade climbed into the wagon last week and Anders decided to pull his brother along. He actually managed to pull him quite a distance so I was really impressed!

4. Double cars!

When my parents came to visit last weekend they brought a new car for the boys to play with. They are loving having their own and there are no more screaming matches! Plus, they are just adorable in their little vehicles <3

5. Best listener!

It was a full week for Jamison at school! On Thursday we were invited to an “Author’s Breakfast” where we got to enjoy donuts and juice while listening to our kids present their writing. His teacher also gave an award to each student and Jamison was awarded “Best Listener” which fits him pretty darn well! I’m so proud of all his accomplishes this year. We also learned he is finishing Kindergarten reading at an end of second grade level! So very proud of that boy.

6. Exploring a new park

After many investigations by Micah and myself we finally found some parks in our area that seem better for the whole family! We had always gone to the playground closest to us but it didn’t have baby swings or a great play structure for the little boys. We scouted out some new places and decided to check one out on Saturday. The kids had a blast, we got a great walk in, and we are excited about this new hidden gem of a park.

And in case you can’t tell, that is ALL FIVE of them piled in the tube slide together. The little boys were laughing so hard at running into everyone that they kept doing it. They know how to find joy!

6. Pampering my poor feet

I was a dancer for 15 years so my feet received their fair share of abuse while I was growing up. But now I spend 90% of my time barefoot. Inside, outside, doesn’t matter. And if I do have to wear shoes? Flip flops for as much of the year as I can handle and during the winter I only wear boots or shoes when necessary, like going outside. So my feet are still being abused and are super rough and calloused. My parents gave me some at home pedicure supplies for my Mother’s Day gift so I pulled out my foot bath and pampered myself a bit. And Micah finished it off with a nice foot rub while we watched tv.

7. Playing before bedtime

We don’t often let the little boys into the basement because it’s where the true chaos of our house resides but occasionally if the big kids have done a decent job picking up and we can be there to watch them we let them run around in this “new to them” area of the house. Micah keeps many of his Transformers in the basement so he let Cade check one out and both boys got to have a tickle fight with Micah and a spider puppet. So many giggles!

Where did you find joy this week? Tell me in the comments!
