Inspired by one of my favorite blogs I thought it would be a great idea to look back each week at those things that brought me the most joy. This is far too fitting for my blog to ignore the idea so I look forward to posting these each week!
Do you want to know my favorite part about starting this blog and making a point of choosing to see joy in my normal, everyday life? I’m seeing it everywhere now and it’s so hard to not want to share CONSTANTLY about the joy around me.
1. My new coffee mug
I actually received this a couple weeks ago from my MOPS ladies as a “Thanks for being an awesome Coordinator” gift and I keep forgetting to post about it! I love using this mug every day. It’s one of my favorite colors and I love the quote “Bloom where you are planted” that is on it. Such a great reminder! Thanks ladies 😀
2. Silly goof in glasses
She couldn’t find her own sunglasses on one of our walks this week so I let her put on a pair of mine. The giant glasses plus her big ol’ grin just brought so much joy into my heart.
3. Cream cheese kolaches
My grandpa was a baker and worked in a very well known local bakery/deli in Minneapolis. My absolute FAVORITE treat from the bakery was a kolache, which is like a danish. Now that I no longer live in my hometown and my grandpa has passed away I don’t get these anymore… until I learned to make them myself! I don’t make them super often because then I’d eat them super often but a couple times a year they are such a treat. I’ll be sharing the recipe soon because they are amazing and really not difficult at all… which can be dangerous!
4. Last day of school!
We made it! We survived another school year! We had a bit of a rocky start adjusting to both big boys being gone and new routines but once we found our groove and they discovered how awesome school really is it turned out to be a fantastic year and we had lots to celebrate. Now to enjoy three months of freedom and sunshine (hopefully!).
5. Reese’s peanut butter donut
Holy cow, guys. This donut… I just can’t even. It’s a regular yeast donut but it’s filled with a peanut butter cream and then topped with peanut butter frosting and chopped Reese’s cups. It is total peanut butter heaven. It’s so very rich so it’s not a donut I would get every time we go for donuts but definitely a good occasional treat. If you ever get to try this or something similar make sure you have coffee or milk to go with because of how decadent it is!
6. Corn on the cob monster
This guy kept stealing my corn when we were out for lunch! I’d set it on my plate only to have him reach over and grab it. He was not very willing to give it back either. He loved chewing on it so I see lots of corn on the cob on the menu this summer!
7. New park and a picnic
We explored another new park in our neighborhood this weekend and brought along a picnic dinner. It was a little windy for the picnic and took some work to get all the food to stay on plates (don’t pick up your sandwich and water at the same time!) but the kids loved the adventure and it’s a nice quiet park with lots of space for running.
I can’t wait to see what joy the first week of summer brings!
Where did you find joy this week? How do you feel about peanut butter donuts?
