Welcome back! If you are just joining us, we are using the YouVersion Bible App to follow a devotional together. Read THIS POST to get all the information you need to join in and then you can read THIS MORNING’S POST to see the promises we are focusing on this week.
DId you get a chance to spend some time with this week’s promises. I read them over and over and had such a hard time deciding which one stood out to me the most. Each one is so fantastic but the promise I am claiming this week is….
I reward My children who love My word with seasons of fruitfulness and victorious endeavors.
“but whose delight ins in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither –
whatever they do prospers.”
I love this promise for two reasons:
1. If we root ourselves in the word and obey God we will see victory
2. The fruit comes in seasons – there will be times of no fruit.
The second reason seems strange. Why would I be happy about seasons of no fruit? Of times when I’m not succeeding or prospering? I need those seasons when things are not happening on the outside. Those seasons when I can’t tell if I’m making a difference so I can dig my roots in further to Him. If I’m constantly producing fruit I might become arrogant and think I can do this whole life thing without dependence on Him. But through non-fruit bearing seasons I can continue to grow and learn on the inside so I’m ready to produce more fruit when the time is right.
What promise stood out to you this week? Which do you need more faith to believe?
