Three Word Wednesday: I see you

I’m linking this up over at 152 Insights to My Soul

From Kristin: #ThreeWordWednesday is simple, really. I know we’re all busy with life and kids and jobs and parents and friends and church and whatever else it is that occupies our time. Some weeks I’m not sure what my post will be about, but knowing people will show up here on Wednesdays is good motivation to write something. #ThreeWordWednesday is a chance to pause and hear God. Sum up what you’re hearing in three words. Those three words are enough. But stories are good too.

I See You

We’ve all played peek-a-boo with our kids before, right? One of you covers your eyes and then when you take them off you yell “Peek-a-boo! I see you!” or something similar. Our littlest boys LOVE playing. So much so that at meal times, diaper changes, and other random times, especially if we need them to come to us, they will hide their eyes behind their hands with a big grin on their face thinking that we can’t see them until they uncover their eyes again. Such stinkers and it’s so sweet to see it because we all play along.

“Where did Anders go?”

“Oh, no! Cade disappeared again!”

And those boys giggle like they are really tricking us even though they are still strapped into their high chairs, lying on the changing table, or standing in the hallway in front of us.

But the other day I thought about how often we try and hide from God. That he doesn’t see our every move or know our every thought. How frequently do we forget that? We go about our business and just pretend that he doesn’t see us neglecting the needs of someone. Or making a nasty comment about someone. Or ignoring the path He wants us to head down. Or ignoring that He exists completely. Ouch.

“Am I only a God nearby,
declares the Lord,
“and not a God far away?
Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?”
declares the Lord.
”Do I not fill heaven and earth?”
declares the Lord.

— Jeremiah 23:23-14 (NIV)

If we had forgotten the name of our God
or spread out our hands to a foreign god,
would not God have discovered it,
since he knows the secrets of the heart?

— Psalm 44:20-21

But what if we do the opposite? What if we seek Him out instead of hiding from Him? @@What if we run to Him with open arms for forgiveness, mercy, and grace?@@

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

— Jeremiah 29:13

Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

— Psalm 9:10

What are you trying to hide from God today? What needs are you ignoring or path are you avoiding? Instead of hiding, seek him out.
