I’m linking this up over at 152 Insights to My Soul.
From Kristin: #ThreeWordWednesday is simple, really. I know we’re all busy with life and kids and jobs and parents and friends and church and whatever else it is that occupies our time. Some weeks I’m not sure what my post will be about, but knowing people will show up here on Wednesdays is good motivation to write something. #ThreeWordWednesday is a chance to pause and hear God. Sum up what you’re hearing in three words. Those three words are enough. But stories are good too.
Show Christ’s Love
It was another week headlined by a tragic event. I had planned on writing something lighthearted and fun this week to stay in theme with my anniversary but this is weighing too heavily on my heart. I’m going to share a post I wrote only last week. I wrote this on Thursday, June 9th, but it needs to be said again this soon.
My heart and prayers go out to every family member or friend of those hurt or killed in Orlando. I have no words to express how deeply saddened I am that you lost loved ones in such a tragic and heartless way. I am praying for you.
Copied from my post located here
We live in a world filled with jealousy, judgement, and hate. This seems to be the primary way that Satan chooses to cause death and destruction in our lives. It goes all the way back to Adam and Eve! The serpent made it seem as though God was keeping something magical away from them and they should have every right to be as knowledgeable as He is. And now we are filled with jealousy over what the neighbor across the street has, judgement about the mom with a tantruming toddler, and hate about those who think differently than us. None of that is from God.
There are so many issues dividing our world and country today but the only thing I want to do is show Christ’s love. Yelling at someone who is scared and alone while facing an unplanned pregnancy does not show her Christ’s love. Keeping people shut out because they are different does not show Christ’s love. Bashing people because they vote for a candidate that you don’t agree with doesn’t show Christ’s love.
I have friends and family from all different walks of life and in all sorts of different situations. If they make a choice I don’t agree with or that doesn’t line up with my world view do I blast them? NOPE. I continue to love them as I always have. Only through love will they see Christ in me. Christ met with prostitutes, tax collectors, and lepers. @@We are all sinners. We are all broken. We are all in need of His grace.@@ I am no better, I am only saved by His blood.
Father God, Thank you for this promise that others will see you in us by the way we love them. Help us to love unconditionally, without judgement, and without fear, that we can offer a glimpse of your love to them. @@I pray that all those that we come into contact with would know that we serve You because of the way we love. Amen.@@
Now is the time, brothers and sisters, to show what it really means to be like Christ and to love like Christ. Open your hearts and your lives. Pour His love out on those around you – and not just the ones you are close to or comfy with, but the ones that society tends to avoid or even more so, the ones the church seems to avoid. Christ’s love and saving blood is for all and we need to remember that.
