Promises for the Hungry Heart – Week 43 {Update}

This week’s promises are AMAZING. They are the words you should memorize and meditate on frequently. I wish I could talk about each and every single one but I have to choose one that really speaks to me so here we go… 

 

I’ll always be kind and full of love for you. Every single day! Lamentations 3:22-23

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23

As a mom of many kids this is a promise I fall back on time and time again. Because of God’s great love I am not consumed by my frustration over dirty clothes on the floor AGAIN. Because of God’s great love I am not consumed by my lost temper when they haven’t heard me the first eight times I tried asking nicely. Because of God’s great love I am not consumed by my annoyance when they are bickering over another ridiculous cause. 

There are times when those emotions feel consuming. Times I’ve been sure I was forever the angry mom or the maid or the referee. But God’s mercies are new each morning. We don’t need to let those emotions consume us because God is faithful and loves us so dearly. When we turn to him we can turn away from those thoughts and emotions that want to overtake us. 

It’s forever a process for me. Some days are better than others. Some days my voice never goes above a normal speaking voice and there is lots of laughter. Some days I’m begging them to get along for a mere five minutes. And some days I get loud and have to apologize to the kids for not acting appropriately. They’ve always forgiven me, and so has God. His compassion never fails – even when I’m not doing the best.
