Every week I like to take a moment to showcase the moments that brought me the most joy. Sometimes they are awesome activities and other times it’s a sweet moment between the kids. There are always moments that can fill us with joy if we choose to see them with a thankful heart.
This has been a week filled with sickness! It started with the twins then progressed to Mercedes, Micah and me, and finally hit Jamison. We are kind of holding our breath about Parker. He says he feels great but so did the rest of us until it hit. Prayers for health would be greatly appreciated!
1. Sick toddlers
Just when we got back into our groove after the nap strike the boys got sick. It hit Cade first – we got him out of his bed to discover he had gotten sick during the night… and we never knew! Ugh. He was out of it all day on Monday. Then on Tuesday it hit Anders. Both of them were so sad and wanted nothing but cuddles from Mommy. Well, I could get frustrated that I was stuck on the couch or I could be thankful that they still want me around when they feel icky and that they both still fit on my lap 😉
2. New Book!
I’m part of the launch team for Lisa-Jo Baker’s new book, Never Unfriended. Holy buckets, friend. This book is fabulous. It is filled with stories and wisdom that every woman should read, from pre-teens on up. I can’t wait to share more about it with you but please, trust me, when I say this book is everything you need to read if you feel like you are struggling with any aspect of friendship.
3. Kitchen Day
Tuesday is my new Kitchen Day and I’m loving a day blocked out to get my baking and cooking on as well as tackle random kitchen chores that I would otherwise ignore. This week I made sugar cookies and peanut butter corn flake clusters for our road trip as well as cut up a huge bunch of carrots for snacking on. Those didn’t last through the day though so I had to do more.
4. More coloring
Coloring has become more of an every day event around this house now. It gathers the kids together and they all stretch their artistic muscle. But this kid? This kid would color all day. Look how he is already trying to stay in the lines at only 2.5 years old! There are times when the older kids don’t even do that. I can’t wait to see how his creative side grows.
5. Awesome customer service
Last week my vacuum broke. I tried to put the wand back into the hose only to discover the hose was ripping apart! I posted the picture on Instagram and Dyson left a comment with their customer service email. I sent a note explaining what happened and they emailed back fairly quickly asking for my name, address and phone number plus the serial number of the vacuum. I sent all the information right away. The next day I received a message that although our vacuum was out of the warranty period (it’s nearly 11 years old) they would still send out a new hose, free of charge! They also included a coupon to use toward an upgraded vacuum if we decided to go that way instead. I was so impressed that they had my satisfaction in mind and not how much money they could get out of me. That speaks volumes about their company and definitely makes us want to stay customers. And now I can vacuum again 😀
6. Healthy toddlers
By the end of the week the little guys had fully recovered. And they discovered a tote I had pulled out to sort through. They spent much of Saturday climbing in and out of the tote, pretending it was a boat or a car… and at one point a toilet… I’m so happy to see them back to their silly selves and not sad and tired on the couch. Now if the rest of us could feel just as perky we’d be good to go!
