Spring treats, riding bikes, and little helpers – five places I found joy in the chaos this week

Every week I like to take a moment to showcase the moments that brought me the most joy. Sometimes they are awesome activities and other times it’s a sweet moment between the kids. There are always moments that can fill us with joy if we choose to see them with a thankful heart.

Can I get a HALLELUJAH for the spring weather that is finally here? Some of you have had it for a while now but our area has been lagging behind. I believe we had snow again two weeks ago so weather in the mid 50s is glorious! We’ve been walking home from school, riding bikes, and coloring with chalk. GLORIOUS! And open windows. Love the nice breeze and the chance to cool the house down quickly when I’m baking up a storm.

1. Spring treats

I plan on sharing more about these easy and fun treats but I had to give you a sneak peak about our time making them. The kids all did really well sharing supplies and it was so fun seeing how differently they all decorated their treats. And look – I’m actually in a picture 😉

2. Riding bikes

The little boys got new balance bikes for Christmas and the weather was finally nice enough for them to try them out! Cade looks super excited in this picture but his excitement didn’t last for long. Both boys haven’t figured out how to walk and keep the bikes upright quite yet so they abandoned them. We will need to spend extra time working with them to get them comfortable with the method and hopefully they will catch on easily.

3. Then & Now

I love the “On This Day” feature on Facebook. It helps me remember what happened way back when, especially in those incredibly sleep deprived months after each kid was born. This little gem popped up this week and I knew it needed to be recreated. I was so happy that the little guys were finally big enough to be worn on my back and now they rarely, if ever, want to be worn. But they were thrilled to get in the wraps for this picture and it really drove home just how big they are now. (Carriers: Infantino Wrap & Tie; Ergo 360)

4. Little mama

Now that we can walk to pick up the boys Mercedes can wear her babies in her “wrap.” I gave her one of my old scarves and we attempt to wrap a baby tight enough so it won’t fall out. She loves getting to show off her babies to the other parents and teachers at the school.

5. Little helpers

I sat down to start stacking diapers and Cade and Anders joined right in. They stacked the prefolds and inserts plus pulled out any underwear and diaper covers. It’s nice to see them so enthusiastic about helping, even if it’s not done perfectly.

Where did you choose joy in the chaos this week? Was it easy or challenging to choose joy this week?
