Family game time, new hair color, and the end of school – six places I found joy in the chaos this week

Every week I like to take a moment to showcase the moments that brought me the most joy. Sometimes they are awesome activities and other times it’s a sweet moment between the kids. There are always moments that can fill us with joy if we choose to see them with a thankful heart.

We are officially on summer break! The boys ended the school year on Thursday which was definitely one of the highlights of the week. Now it’s on to fun adventures, late nights, silly games, and all the fun that summer brings. Before we jump in let’s look back at the best places of the last week of school.

1. Family Game Time

Jamison had been asking and asking to play a game so we let the big boys skip quiet time on Monday to spend some time playing “Pop-O-Matic” with us. Gotta love off brand games! In true family fashion we are missing the yellow pieces so Micah and I were a team. And we won!

2. Mercedes’ Drawing

Mercedes has been busy drawing on her LeapPad and created this great drawing. I asked her what it was and without skipping a beat she said, “This is Olaf complaining.” Well, alright then!

3. New Hair

My awesome friend Kate came over this week and made my hair look awesome again! The blue had severely faded so a new fun mix was needed for summer. I’m loving the shadow roots and the intensity of the color. I decided to go bold so as it fades and washes away it turns to a lighter shade. Hopefully it looks just as awesome faded as it does bold!

4. Last Day of School

We finished another year! They are on to 2nd and 3rd grade in the fall. Both boys made great strides this year. Parker is loving math and science and Jamison is all about reading and art. We are so proud of all their hard work this year!

5. Celebrating the Last Day

I try to do something fun to kick off summer each year. Last year we attempted to go out for ice cream but were greeted with a tornado warning as the boys exited school. This year I loaded the kids in the van and hit up our favorite donut shop for half price donuts! We grabbed an extra dozen to bring to Micah and his team at work. We all ate snack together in the office and the single guys at his work got a good dose of what life is like with lots of kids… plus donuts 😉

6. Road Trip

School’s out means vacation starts! We embarked on a trip to visit both sides of our family and are super excited to see everyone.

Where did you find joy in the chaos this week?
