Every week I like to take a moment to showcase the moments that brought me the most joy. Sometimes they are awesome activities and other times it’s a sweet moment between the kids. There are always moments that can fill us with joy if we choose to see them with a thankful heart.

We had another four day week which meant every day I had no clue what day it actually was. I really loved our bonus family day but man, it threw me off! I did finally get my head on straight and accomplished quite a bit that I needed to get done this week. Now I’m ready for a “normal” week with nothing on the calendar. Plus, it’s October now which means three of the kids have birthdays this month so I need to get planning and shopping!
1. Bonus family day
The boys had no school on Monday and Micah was able to take the day off work so we had a bonus family day after I was gone all weekend! We took the kids to the LEGO Ninjago Movie and out to lunch as well as visiting some stores in between. Jamison and Anders thought they were hilarious chasing us with spiders 😉
2. Dancing kids
We had gotten out of the habit of evening exercise during the summer because it was so nice outside but now that it’s cooling off I’ve tried to remember a few days each week. This is one of the few songs that gets every one of them up and dancing and it cracks me up every time watching them try and copy the moves.
3. Littlest builder
MIcah took all five kids to Toys R Us for a Ninjago LEGO building event while I was gone and each kid got a small set. The little boys have spent time every day – sometimes hours each day! – creating with their small amount of bricks. Cade built this tower all by himself!
4. Alphabet memory
Mercedes is having trouble remembering the names of her letters – games to the rescue! I laminated and cut apart a letter printable I found and we are taking a small chunk of the alphabet, only 8 letters right now, to practice matching uppercase and lowercase letters. She has to tell me the name of the letter each time she flips one. Slowly she is remembering the names and what upper and lower belong together but we definitely need to keep finding new fun ways to help her. But at least she’s excited to learn!
5. Mommy-daughter date
Mercedes chose to go out for sushi for her date because she wanted the all you can eat shrimp. She’s always iffy about the sushi but she ended up eating half my caterpillar roll and one whole piece of actual salmon sushi… plus her shrimp and crab tempura and green tea ice cream. She definitely eats the $4.95 we pay for her! And plus, I got sushi and alone time with my favorite girl – wins all around!
