Every week I like to take a moment to showcase the moments that brought me the most joy. Sometimes they are awesome activities and other times it’s a sweet moment between the kids. There are always moments that can fill us with joy if we choose to see them with a thankful heart.

It was a pretty big week around here with the little three starting a new adventure. I’ll go into that more below so you’ll have to keep scrolling to find out more. My MOPS group also started this week but of course I was busy running around and co-leading the meeting so I didn’t snap any pictures of our great night together. I’m really pumped for this year, especially because we have so many new moms joining us. If you are looking to find some great mom friends I encourage you to seek out a MOPS group in your own area. I’d be lost at mothering without them!
1. Girls’ lunch date
On Sunday after church I went out for a sushi lunch with three awesome friends. We stuffed our faces, laughed like crazy, and really enjoyed our time together. We’d love to make this a monthly tradition but Micah might get really jealous if I’m eating that much sushi without him! The picture is what we ordered for our second round. On our first round we ordered enough to get a big boat of sushi and I wish I would have snapped a picture of that!
2. Apple crisp
My fall family goal is to get in some fun fall activities. Our favorite is going to a local apple orchard, loading up our wagon with tons of apples, then making apple crisp, pie, cider, and other apple treats. We walked the whole orchard and got NOTHING. Not a single apple. Wait, one of the kids found one but on closer inspection it had worm holes so we ditched it. Either it was a bad year for apples or people swarmed the orchard this year and picked everything really early. So instead we went to Walmart and grabbed a tote of locally grown apples and made a pan of apple crisp. Jamison’s chore was kitchen helper so he manned the apple peeler/corer/slicer and did the mixing of the crumb topping. It was crazy delicious!
3. Preschool and Tot School
We finally started our homeschool preschool/tot school year! I knew if I was working with Mercedes that the boys would want to be around as well and thankfully Carisa of 1+1+1=1 has loads of “tot school” printables for their age. They are fun worksheets for introducing the letters and numbers to the kids without really requiring any work. They get to feel like big kids with their own binders and I simply point out what’s on the page.
Mercedes is going through part of tot school and part of the Raising Rockstars Preschool program from 1+1+1=1. Each week we focus on one letter, one number, one color, and one Bible verse that begins with the letter of the week. This week she worked on memorizing Matthew 5:16 and practiced over and over until she could do it all on her own. Next week we move to the letter T.
4. Morning walks
Family walks are one of my favorite parts of the day. After breakfast we all head out together to walk the big boys to school. We can only do this for so long before the weather turns cold and Micah needs to drive them. I had to snap a picture of this walk because Cade insisted on holding hands with Mercedes and she was more than happy to do so. Then Anders grabbed Micah’s hand and they all walked ahead while I pulled the wagon. Gah, I love these little people.
Where did you find joy in your chaos this week? What was your favorite moment of the week?
