Raspberries, another birthday, and the letter L – five places I found joy in the chaos this week

Every week I like to take a moment to showcase the moments that brought me the most joy. Sometimes they are awesome activities and other times it’s a sweet moment between the kids. There are always moments that can fill us with joy if we choose to see them with a thankful heart.

Anyone else incredibly thrown off by the holiday on Monday? I always get so off track with weird weeks and this week was extra weird because not only did we have Monday off from everything (except traveling back from visiting family) but Tuesday was Micah’s birthday so he was home early and by Wednesday I had NO idea what was going on. But now we can go back to life as normal. I think. Hopefully.

1. Family Four Wheeling Trip

Micah’s brother and sister in law were camping near his parents so we spent about six hours on the acreage riding four wheelers, grilling, roasting marshmallows, and laughing at all the cousins playing together.

2. Fresh Raspberries

My raspberry bushes have a mind of their own. I swear most bushes produce fruit in July/August but mine are just starting to ripen. We never get a large crop as we only have a few bushes so they are a little treat each time we pull a few more off.

3. Micah’s Birthday

On Tuesday Micah turned 34! We gave him a couple new Transformers and indulged in brownie sundaes with LOTS of toppings. So yummy! He’s an incredible man, husband, and father and we feel so blessed to call him ours!

4. The letter “L”

We will be starting preschool at home this week so I decided to see how Mercedes would do with free handing a letter she hasn’t had much exposure to… at all. No one in our family has an “L” so she’s never needed to draw one before! She likes repeating my directions of “line down, line across” as she makes each one. We will be using the Raising Rockstars Preschool curriculum from 1+1+1=1 if you are looking for a fun program to use with your own kids! And the little boys will be using her Tot School printables to follow along with Mercedes’ letters.

5. Found in Target

Look what I found in store at Target! Target doesn’t choose to carry many books in store so this is a HUGE deal for Erin. And an even bigger deal is that they are going to be playing the book trailer on the big screens starting today! Aaaahhh! So crazy awesome. If you’ve been curious about this book you should go see if your local store is carrying it as well. You can even page through it and see if it’s a book that would be a good fit for you. You can read my thoughts on it here, you can order it from Target here, and from Amazon here

*PS. If you do buy the book, the “preorder” bonus offers have been extended to the 16th! That’s 11 days after the book has been released! There are over $200 worth of bonuses that you get for free for buying the book – amazing!

Where did you find joy in your chaos this week? What was your favorite moment?
