Sprinkler, birthday, and sleepover – 4 places I found joy in the chaos this week

Every week I like to take a moment to showcase the moments that brought me the most joy. Sometimes they are awesome activities and other times it’s a sweet moment between the kids. There are always moments that can fill us with joy if we choose to see them with a thankful heart.

This week was crazy! It was the first full week of school for the boys, my birthday, open house for my MOPS group, and we went out of town for our birthdays. Phew! So much fun packed into a short amount of time. Life might start calming back down after this now.

1.  Sprinkler day

Summer made a reappearance this week and it got hot enough for us to break out the new sprinkler we found on clearance. We moved the sprinkler to several different areas in the yard but the favorite was near the slide to make it slippery.

2. My birthday

I turned 33 on Tuesday and Micah surprised me by taking the whole day off. We took the little kids to the mall to play while the big boys were at school and treated ourselves to all you can eat sushi. It’s a great deal when the little boys are free and Mercedes is only $5! Plus I got a $10 gift card to use on my next visit for going on my birthday. We had red velvet cheesecake for dessert and the kids sang to me in their loudest voices. I feel so loved!

3. Sibling sleepover

It’s not very often that we let all 5 kids sleep together but occasionally it happens. It doesn’t give them the best quality sleep but it creates fun memories for them.

4.  Family birthday hoopla

My parents and siblings along with Micah’s parents, siblings and their families and his grandparents all got together over the weekend to celebrate August birthdays. SOOO much food and we got spoiled with presents. The kids went crazy with their cousins and we were all exhausted by the time bedtime rolled around.

Where did you find joy in your chaos this week? What was your favorite moment?
