Quick trips, bubbles, and planting flowers – 6 places I found joy in the chaos this week

Every week I like to take a moment to showcase the moments that brought me the most joy. Sometimes they are awesome activities and other times it’s a sweet moment between the kids. There are always moments that can fill us with joy if we choose to see them with a thankful heart.

Oh man was last week BEAUTIFUL! We got outside nearly every day and it was perfect for lounging in a chair while the kids ran around like crazy in the yard. I got some reading done which was great because I had fallen behind in a few of my books. I’m updating this page of what I’ve read so far this year and after a quick weekend away I managed to add a few more to the finished column!

I also found some new clothes when we hit up some thrift stores this weekend – yay! After wearing mostly the same clothes for the last ten years (thank you pregnancy and nursing!) plus not really knowing how to create cute outfits, I was in a rut. But in last year’s Ultimate Homemaking Bundle I found Get Your Pretty On and her SAHM Casual Basics Wardrobe Builder. I was really intrigued with the idea of a capsule wardrobe but wasn’t at a point of adding to my closet quite yet.

This year I got The Big Book of Outfit Formulas (so incredible!) and the Closet Staples Casual Capsule Wardrobe Builder. I’m using these to build my new wardrobe slowly. I’m focusing on a few of the pieces that are used in multiple seasons to get the best bang for my buck. This weekend I added some blush colored jeans ($3.49), a jean jacket ($5.49), a striped tee ($2.99) and a white tee ($3.88). Not bad for less than $20!

But on to some pictures of the best moments of the week!

Lots of outside time this week!

These goofballs pulled this off the shelf and made themselves at home. They thought they were hilarious – and so did several other shoppers!

We made bubble blowers out of pipe cleaners – did you know you could do that? I had no idea until a lady at a garage sale mentioned it to my mom this weekend. So neat, cheap, and easy!

We spent the weekend at my parents so we managed to sneak out for another date night – two weeks in a row! The picture is terrible since we were in the movie theater… seeing Avengers: Infinity War for a second time. It’s so good! But after driving several hours to get to my hometown we were a little tired and had to keep poking each other to stay awake 😀 Thankfully we made it through but late-night movies after a long drive probably aren’t the best idea again.

The kids helped my dad plant flowers for my mom for Mother’s Day.

The whole reason we made a quick trip to my hometown this weekend was for my great uncle’s 70th birthday party. He lives in FL now but came back up because the whole family lives here. We don’t get to see extended family much so this gave us a chance to see quite a few at once. The kids stayed on a giant pile of dirt the whole time and this picture does not do justice to how dirty they were.

Where did you find joy in the chaos this week? What was your favorite part of the week?
