Snow day, letters, and cuddles – 4 places I found joy in the chaos this week

Every week I like to take a moment to showcase the moments that brought me the most joy. Sometimes they are awesome activities and other times it’s a sweet moment between the kids. There are always moments that can fill us with joy if we choose to see them with a thankful heart.

Last week had me all befuddled! We had an unexpected snow day on Monday which left me incredibly confused the rest of the week. I could NOT get a handle on what day it was. Tuesday felt like Monday but then Wednesday wanted to be Thursday so by the time Friday finally rolled around I was so happy to get out of such a confusing stretch of days.

This week should be normal now so I’m ready to knock out some house tasks and some blog tasks. I’m attempting to go back through old posts and update graphics as well as a few more new fun freebies. It’s a little time consuming but I want to make sure what I put out there is helpful and encouraging and reminds others of the joy we have in Jesus.

But back to last week’s best moments <3

1. Snow Day

Sunday was mostly normal until the weather took a turn in the evening and we woke up to a bunch of snow. Just around the time I was starting to get breakfast ready I got the call that school was canceled and soon after Micah’s work called off as well. A full extra day as a family! We got some things done around the house, played games, and watched some extra tv. It was so nice to just be lazy and enjoy our time together.

2. Abstract building

Cade really enjoys building crazy ships, houses, and towers “just for you, Mama.” Be still my heart. He gets frustrated when his very unstable creations come crashing down but he gets right back to work until it’s just right. He’s a very determined little dude!

3. Letter practice

Mercedes and I are working through the book, Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. It is definitely not the typical way that kids are taught to read in schools but she seems to be catching on well so far. It’s all about letter sounds rather than letter names so here she is writing the sound, “mmm” on the Doodle Pro

4. Saturday cuddles

We had a late night on Friday and were facing a busy Saturday afternoon/evening so we made sure to have a slow Saturday. I was reading in bed and Micah was playing with some Transformers so Anders climbed in a joined us. He kept chatting away and talking about all the toys in our room when I snapped this picture. So cute!

Where did you find joy in the chaos this week? What was your favorite part of the week?
