My Week’s Joy – 4/18-4/24

Inspired by one of my favorite blogs I thought it would be a great idea to look back each week at those things that brought me the most joy. This is far too fitting for my blog to ignore the idea so I look forward to posting these each week!

Do you want to know my favorite part about starting this blog and making a point of choosing to see joy in my normal, everyday life? I’m seeing it everywhere now and it’s so hard to not want to share CONSTANTLY about the joy around me.

How I found joy in a real moment of life

I share constantly about seeing joy around me and usually the pictures I share are moments when my kids are being adorable and things look great. Don’t think that my life is so super awesome all the time. Every week I wonder if I’ll actually have anything to share because the kids are crazy, I’m crazy, and the house is crazy. Seriously. This house is insane. Just ask our parents when they try to Skype with us.

Yesterday I was trying to put away the clean dishes after dinner so that I could get the dirty dishes loaded before bedtime. Remember those monthly goals that I have? Yeah, gotta keep the dishes rotating. But anyway, I’m unloading the dishwasher, one handed for some reason (mom-ing) and as I was trying to slide some large plates into the bottom of the pile when the smaller plates on top started sliding out.

I felt myself panicking because one hand had other items in it (probably other dishes) and the other hand had the large plates in it. I tried using my elbows and upper arms to catch the falling plates (why I thought that would work is beyond me) but all four small plates fell down. Two landed on the counter, one fell gracefully to the floor (like how I fall) and the other crashed and shattered into thousands of pieces.

101 Things I Love

I love getting to know the bloggers I follow just a little better because it helps me relate on a more personal level with them. Hearing about their days, their joys, their struggles… it really helps build a community. So with that I thought a list of 101 things I love would be a great way to give all of you a little window into me. And since my blog is all about finding joy this is just a list full of things that almost always bring me joy!

Fair warning: This is kind of a brain dump post. As in anything and everything that I love could pop into my head at any moment and get added to the list. No specific order. Welcome to the insanity that is my mind.

  1. Jesus (bet you didn’t see that one coming!)
  2. My Micah-pants (or that one)
  3. My kiddos (I know this one is a total surprise too!)

Okay, okay, you want to read about loves that you may not know… on to the rest of the list!

My favorite “me time” moments

As a mom of five kids between ages one and seven my “me-time” is obviously quite limited. Heck, any mom of any kids usually has a limited amount of “me-time.” In order to maintain any semblance of sanity and “Katie” as a person I have a few activities I enjoy that don’t take much time, money, or effort to enjoy.
