Update on September’s Goals & My Goals for October

Yay fall! I love this time of year. The cool mornings and perfect afternoons are simply the best. I know the chill of winter will creep up on us before we know it so I’m trying to enjoy it while it’s here. Three months left of 2016! Wowza. But instead of dwelling on that let’s see how my goals went this month!

Goals for September

1. Paint!

I had a blast painting this month. I stretched myself a bit and didn’t only do words like I’ve done before but actually painted THINGS. Ack! I think I may need to ask for canvases for Christmas because I’ve really started to enjoy this new creative outlet and think I could fill up my entire vaulted kitchen wall with fun art!

My Week’s Joy – 9/5-9/11

Inspired by one of my favorite blogs I thought it would be a great idea to look back each week at those things that brought me the most joy. This is far too fitting for my blog to ignore the idea so I look forward to posting these each week!

It was Micah’s birthday last week along with a short week at school. Add in the cooler fall temps and it was a wonderful week! There was a really strong thunderstorm that kept us inside one day but we enjoyed watching the rain pour down and fill up the buckets on the deck. These are the other moments that brought me joy over the week!

My Monthly Goals {Update on August’s Goals & My Goals for September}

Anyone else feel like August was a mere whisper? I swear it started last week and now it’s over. Tomorrow is September 1st. So much for summer! But I’m pretty sure I say this every month when I get my goals post up. It really reaffirms the saying about the days being long but the years being fast. I mean, holy cow, right? Only four months left of 2016. Yikes.

Let’s look back at my goals for August and see how I did.

Goals for August

This month was all about Back to School prep. I knew there were lots of tasks that needed to be accomplished in order to make the transition a little easier.

The easiest art project I ever threw together

Imagine yourself trying to finish up the breakfast dishes and get a few other items prepped for the rest of the day. You’ve got noodles on the stove, a sink full of soapy water, and a cast iron pan drying in the oven. Then the kids start yelling at each other. Again. In the last ten minutes you’ve broken up at least six fights. He’s sitting on her cushion. This one wants the Duplo that the other one has been stacking for a good twenty minutes. She’s tired of getting stinky boy feet stuck in her face. You don’t want to yell but inside you feel yourself screaming. The house needs a change of pace but you don’t have anything ready. What do you do?

This is exactly where I found myself last week. I don’t know what had gotten in to them but they were extra touchy about everything the others did. There were rarely any behaviors that were truly meant to cause hurt feelings but everyone seemed on edge. I knew something needed to pull them out of their funk so I searched the kitchen and found this:

My Week’s Joy 6/27-7/3

Inspired by one of my favorite blogs I thought it would be a great idea to look back each week at those things that brought me the most joy. This is far too fitting for my blog to ignore the idea so I look forward to posting these each week!

Do you want to know my favorite part about starting this blog and making a point of choosing to see joy in my normal, everyday life? I’m seeing it everywhere now and it’s so hard to not want to share CONSTANTLY about the joy around me.

What an amazing week! I really had to control myself in choosing moments to share with you but I still have a boatload to show. It wasn’t like we did anything crazy out of the ordinary either. I made a slight adjustment of my attitude and behavior and with a small little tweak came even more joy! Just goes to show that joy and happiness really is a choice!
